Can we really say anything this early?

For me, the actual baseball season doesn't really get interesting until we pass the 80-game mark.

That said, I've got my Padres tickets lined up for the summer, already.

I know. Its true that you can not really judge by this stage in the year, but it's still so very depressing to watch.

Especially tonight, as the Brewers lost once again to the Cards. They are now 0-4 against the defending NL champs--but what's depressing is observing the Cardinals and realizing that that's how baseball ought to be played, and realizing that the Brewers aren't even close to playing at that level.

Nor will they ever be. Atleast until baseball has a salary cap. The only hope the Brewers have is to buildup a high grade mediocre team that can draw in a decent income allowing them to sign a few decent players and make one half hearted run and hope to get lucky.

That sounds like the makings of a winning underdog comedy! Where's Mr. 3000 when you need him?

I'd pay to see an aging Robin Yount take the field, and so would you.

Make that 0-5.

Isn't the Crew on a 1-9 stretch?

Brewers finally squeaked by the Cards, 4-3, avoiding another sweep. Thank goodness we don't play them again until July.

True, but the future doesn't look very promising with the Reds, Cubs, and Mets coming up next.

I've never heard those teams, save the Cubs, mentioned in a threatening context. And I thought being a Padres fan was frustrating.

When you're a Brewer's fan, the Bad News Bears look quite intimidating

Being somewhat of a baseball-obsessed nut (Rangers, Pirates, Padres in that order), I can comment here.

Great trade for Milwaukee today, sending Junior Spivey to Mont... er, Washington for Tomo Ohka. While Ohka's peripherals aren't that great, he's been a solid pitcher for several years now (I believe he threw a perfecto once in Boston's minor league system). He should fit well into the back of the rotation somewhere. More importantly, this frees space for super-prospect Rickie Weeks to begin his major league career.

Good move all around.

To replace Ohka, The Nationals claimed Ranger castoff Ryan Drese from waivers.... Laughing

Weeks hasn't played that great as of late, but he is definatly a promising point of the future. Along with Prince Feilder who made his major league debut last night against the D-Rays.

PS- We lost...damn
