Quite a stretch in logic there, isn't it? Since when is expecting our troops to act in accordance with established POW guidelines--as opposed to behaving exactly like the enemy--akin to attempting to "reform" terrorists? There's no relationship at all between those two ideas.

Nations are not playgrounds, and the well-he-started-it! excuse does not justify inappropriate action. Simply put, if we do not lead by example, then we have zero moral authority on which to stand.

I'm saying that the basic principle which drives the don't lower yourself to their ground is because it is the reason others hate us. Or such is the left's rationale. They seem to think that, if we didn't, terrorists wouldn't be terrorists. What I'm saying is that, if they're already a terrorist, they won't change, no matter what we do to the prisoners to get information from them.

I'm saying that we shouldn't lower ourselves to their level because our own national character is at stake. I'm all for punishing convicted terrorists, and I'm not particularly interested in trying to "reform" them.

Well, that's far more agreeable than what I thought you were saying.

If you have already given up hope that it is possible to change the mind set of these people than why even fight the war against them? It is obvious that there will always be terrorism, and if you think their is no way to stop these people from thinking with such hostility towards us, then why even make an effort to liberate the area. People with your loss of hope would probably be much better off just saying "Well, there's nothing we can do so why not just nuke the whole area".

I said that we cannot reform the terrorists, not the people.

Oh, so you are finally coming to the conclusion that there is a difference between a terrorist and a civilian. A good step forward from your previous statements.

Sometimes civilian sacrifice is necessary. My previous comments did not imply that everyone was a terrorists, but there are many locations with an overwhelming number of terrorists that can easily be targeted.
