No one's mentioned Seinfeld, or the first few seasons of Roseanne?

"CSI" is about as restless, glitzed-up, and overindulgent as a TV show can get - I should hate it, but every time I'm sucked in by it. I hate the fact that I love it so much.

"Seinfeld," on the other hand, is something I appreciate much more than I like. It's witty and intelligent (most of the time), but I just can't remember being entirely wowed by any episode.

I watch both CSI's fairly regularly, because I'm interested in that kind of stuff, but it's never a show I would watch over and over again. In fact, I've never watched any episode more than once.

I mentioned Roseanne as a potential eleventh slot, and Seinfeld, especially the middle seasons when the show (and the characters) branched off into amoral absurdism, would probably find itself somewhere on a top 20 list. Same with Twin Peaks a show I dearly loved, yet deeply disappointed me in the end (although the final episode was a doosey). Drew Carey and Whose Line? are pretty funny, but I don't tend to go out of my way to watch them. Since I don't watch that much TV in the first place, it was pretty easy to figure out watch shows I couldn't do without.

So that's your secret for staying so fashionable and hip.

I'm rather voracious when it comes to reading certain publications about historical and current cinema. For example, I've read every single article, film review, and book review printed in Film Quarterly since Winter 1993, and same for Sight & Sound since July 1998. I like to read them cover-to-cover, especially because the more obscure pieces lead me into new areas of study. I view it as a test of willpower, and as a test of dedication.

Have you read Frankenstein or The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde yet (the two classics of horror Dracula is often grouped with)?
