Good news, I think, depending on the magnitude of the execution of this plan. Unfortunate that Netflix's business is declining, as of late, though.

I'm not sure the Independent Spirit Awards carry the cachet that Netflix thinks they do, but I like this: "Netflix will eventually offer subscribers DVDs of movies that do not land distribution deals." Now that's a way to build consumer loyalty.

Yeah, that's what I was primarily referring to. I can't wait for that day to come.

Groovy, this'll make Netflix even cooler. There's a lot of really good independent movies out there that are really hard to rent. Sure ya can buy 'em, but who wants to buy a movie they haven't seen? I admit I've done it a few times, but it's rare.

Like the other day I saw this movie "The Affair" with a friend, apparently a new independent arthouse picture by the same company that did Swimming With Sharks and a bunch of other now-popular indies. I enjoyed it - while obviously not very big budget or anything, it was stylistically very well done and well directed. But looking later at Netflix, or even perusing the aisles at Blockbuster and all that, I couldn't find it.

I just bought it from their website www.cineville.com - Amazon has it too but more expensive - and I dig it. It's hard to recommend to friends though who only want to rent.

Yeah, it only makes sense that Netflix adds indies to their library. They already have concerts, documentaries, cartoon collections and all that. Yeah. Go Netflix.
