I posted this on RT, but I felt like sharing, guys -- love you all.

Hullo, fellas! I (aka Mr. Lime) am back, after a month-long hiatus. You might be wondering, ?Well, where has Thirdy been all this time? What happened to the Film Discussion Thread creator, huh?? Eh, lots of things have happened. First, an introduction:

As some of you know, I?d been living in the UK for fours years, from July 2000 to July 2004. It was a memorable experience, no doubt, and one that introduced me to a whole new culture, a whole new language and a whole new bunch of friends and whatnot. My family and I moved there, as I said, four years ago (we being 100% Spanish) because my dad was offered a better job there and, well, it was an offer he couldn?t refuse. At first I, alike my two brothers and two sisters, was very reluctant to go; I simply didn?t want to leave my friends and family here, and to be so far away from my home country. I cried and cried, knowing that I?d hate it there. It took my dad lots of talking to me, in order to sort of convince me that in the end, it would pay off. And, guess what, it did!

Rather stupidly, I thought that learning English fully would be incredibly hard (I did have English lessons in my school in Spain, but what we did was very basic stuff, really); needless to say, I was proved wrong. Like all good things, it took me quite a lot of effort to learn (patience and time were obligatory!)? during the first three months or so in my English school I had a private English teacher, meaning that I missed out many of the lessons (if I remember rightly, I only went to sports lesson and few more). At the end of the day, however, it was really, really worth it. Now I am fluent in English (some friends of mine do in fact say that I now speak Spanish with a slightly English accent ? gah!!!) and, I have to say, it?s incredibly helpful. Watching films, listening to the radio and, oh yes, the good old ?Net, helped me to form me in the English language. Lots and lots of reading is also a must, no matter whether or not you like literature (I happen to love it). During my stay in the UK, I made lots of good friends, met many wonderful girls, won an award for Creative Writing and won a range of sport competitions and many other things. I?m very proud of myself indeed; living in the UK has, all in all, been a wonderful experience ? it did have its ups and downs, its pains and pleasures, but it was very worthwhile, and I?ll never forget it.

?Memories are the only possessions which no one can take from us.?

-- Jean Paul (attrib.) in Theodor Adorno, Minima Memoralia, Pt. 3, 106

A month ago, then, my family and I packed our things to resettle in Spain. We all believed it was time to come back. I was somewhat sad, but everything, no matter how good it is, has an end. On the last day of school, I received a shirt of England football (soccer, whatever) team, signed by most of my friends, and a photograph of my class with written farewells et al. The day after school ended (that was the 8th of July), we came back to our old house (in Madrid), which we?d done some improving to, and after a few days of exhausting work (carrying boxes to and fro, opening them and getting rid of them, etc), it now looks good as new, and we?re all very happy (my younger brother however, wishes that we?d stayed for a little longer in the UK ? I think he adapted to the English way of life too much). Anyhow, I didn?t have the Internet connected for more than a week, hence why I wasn?t on RT, but I didn?t really mind?

Some days afterwards, my family and I went on holidays to Marbella, in Southern Spain (it?s basically our holiday resort ? this was our fifth year there [or was it the sixth?]) We had lots of fun there; we went to the swimming pool, walked along the beach?s shore, got tanned, visited Ronda (a famous Andalusian village, which, funnily enough, is where Orson Welles? ashes are ? he loved Spain), went shopping (I bought a fair amount of stuff; more of that later). I also went to the gym every day ? I worked on my abdominals and biceps and did 6 km of running whenever I could at an average speed of 12 km per hour. Arnie once said something along these lines: ?If, when you leave the gym, you don?t swear to yourself that you?ll never come back, then you haven?t done enough.? Witty et true. Anyway, this is part one of my recap; part deux will follow shortly, explaining a bit more if necessary and revealing the DVDs, CDs and books I bought. Any questions are much appreciated. I missed you all?

Thanks for reading!

Long time no see, Third Man! Glad to hear that everything worked out for you and all... Like you, I was away from my computer and posting on RT and Flipside for a while cuz I had to go through a lot of hard times, too. But I'm back now!

Now I have to change the freaking song to "And she flies to Sp-aa-yaaaaa-iiiaaaaaaaaannn". It doesn't work as well. Or, I suppose I could make a new one about you going to Spain and not finding Pablo...That should do.
