Blade Runner

Videodrome

Aliens

2001: A Space Odyssey

Dark City

Akira

The Terminator

The Empire Strikes Back

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn

Quatermass and the Pit
(Five Million Years to Earth)

Villiage of the Damned

Invasion of the Body Snatchers
('56)

Invasion of the Body Snatchers
('78 )

Escape from New York

Altered States

The Lathe of Heaven
('80)

It Came from Outer Space

Tetsuo II: Body Hammer

The Day the World Caught Fire

Metropolis
('01)

(I consider Alien and both versions of the The Thing to be more horror than science fiction, hence, their absence from this list. I wrestled with the idea of including the first two Mad Max movies and Bride of Frankenstein, but decided they weren'y quite "purely" SF enough.)

Good choices from other lists: Close Encounters; Minority Report; Gattaca; Iron Giant; The Day the Earth Stood Still.

Thanks for reminding me, I like these:

Gattaca

Aliens

12 Monkeys

Terminator 2 + 3

Damn video stores around here don't have any Sci Fi older than 1985. I especially wanted to see Metropolis ('27)
