Hey, at least it's not Usher or something.

Amen to that.

NEWS: Hilary Duff is performing at Bush's inaguration.

So, she's conservative, I assume. Smile

Bummer. And I had been hoping for Bruce Springsteen.

I was thinking more along the lines of Madonna, myself.

Just a reminder: In Milwaukee, Wilco plays Austin City Limits on PBS tonight, at 11:00pm. Much of the country received the same broadcast last Saturday.

So I flipped on Austin City Limits and instead of broadcasting the Wilco/Bright Eyes episode as promised, Milwaukee got John Fogerty. John Fogerty.

Both the WMVS website and the cable schedule clearly list tonight as Wilco, so I dunno. I guess Channel 10 decided more Milwaukeeans would tune in for old Fogerty. Bummer.

Wilco song I can't get out of my head: "Dash 7," from A.M..

That and "Comment" from the New Year's Eve Madison Square Garden show.

The new tracks include some live songs and the previously unreleased "Panthers," which is a terrific song (I've heard an acoustic version). Plus, "Kickin' Television" gets a deserving release (it was a B-side earlier this year).

And here's the new cover art:

Wilco song I can't get out of my head: "We're Just Friends," from Summer Teeth.

Plus "Corduroy Cutoff Girl" from the Yankee Hotel Foxtrot engineer's demos.

Hey Michael,

Wilco is coming to Houston in April! Best part: Tickets are only $20!

http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/0C003A3DD93AB332?brand=&artistid=773505&majorcatid=10001&minorcatid=1

Jeff Tweedy is also playing a solo concert (as a benefit for Kawasaki disease research) in Chicago in a few weeks. Web presale tickets went on sale at 10:00am this morning, and were sold out in 25 seconds. So I missed out, but I'll try the general sale tomorrow. I need 4 tickets to this show!

Burned again! The general sale sold out in less than a minute. I was on there at 9:59, before the sale even started, and was as fast as humanly possible. Now I'm waiting for some kind-hearted Wilco fanatics to help me out... I'm probably out of luck.

Not that Grammys matter, but sometimes good artists win. Wilco took home two awards for A Ghost is Born -- Best Alternative Music Album and Best Recording Package.

From Filter Magazine:

Jeff Tweedy, the founder and frontman for the band, had this to say on Wilco's double victory: ?We were shocked that we were nominated and even more shocked to have won, especially considering the people we were up against. We?re really happy. Hell, we feel like Norah Jones. We swept the Grammys!?

I had hoped that Jeff wouldn't publicly disparage the award, in the way he's dissed the Grammys in the past. We all agree that the Grammys are quite useless as a measurement of artistic merit--and certainly no validation of talent--but if a group delivers you an award, it's only polite to graciously accept. (You can always stuff it in the closet later.) Glad to see he took the high road.

I don't know if Ghost Is Born deserved the award, but I'm happy for the band.
