Yesterday I did a massive updating of the DVD Release Dates section. Originally I limited listings to 35 per week, but I upped that to 50. There are countless upcoming DVD release lists on the Web, but I honestly think Flipside's is among the best. While others are frequently outdated and filled with errors, I plan to keep ours as up-to-date and accurate as possible -- but only going up to three months into the future. Right now I've got July, August, and September covered, but new titles are still being announced for August and September. Of course, I'll be sure to keep things up-to-date. If anyone knows of any confirmed (not rumored) titles that should be added, please let me know via email or in this thread.

Any suggestions for the DVD Release Dates section?

Would anyone find it helpful if I listed the studio or year next to each title? Like so:

I certainly would find the year and studio useful.

I suppose Danny's suggestion about listing major/minor/indie status is a good one, but it seems to me that a very large number of titles would be difficult to categorize.

Big update for the DVD Release Dates section. The August and September release listings now include the studio releasing the DVD as well as the year of original release. I'm working on the October listings, so they should be up within the next few days.

Wow. Michael, thanks for adding this feature, and doing such an excellent job updating and improving it. I can honestly say it's my favorite place to look at the upcoming release schedules--the most user-friendly I've encountered. I especially appreciate the studio and year information!

Finally got a November section up. Also updated September and October.

Something funny I noticed while doing the November section: A direct-to-video movie released by Fox called Anne B. Real has a front-cover quote attributed to IMDb.com. It's not a quote from a professional film critic or an amateur online critic, but an anonymous IMDb.com user.

The DVD release dates page has now topped the main page as Flipside's #1 entryway. Just barely. The DVD dates section is doing fantastic in a few search engines and it took a lot of tweaking to get such great placement for several keyword phrases. But while the addition of this section has nearly doubled Flipside's traffic in a short amount of time, it seems that few visitors who enter seeking DVD release dates venture into other areas of the site. That's to be expected, though, I guess.

Just updated DVD Release Dates, and added March. A few highly anticipated DVDs due in March include The Chaplin Collection: Volume Two, Schindler's List, and Dawn of the Dead. The Dawn of the Dead disc from Anchor Bay will be a standard edition with only the theatrical cut, but a multi-disc special-edition set that will also include the Cannes cut and the Argento cut (and lots of extras) is expected sometime later in the year.

From now on, all new titles added in the weekly update will be marked as NEW! until the next update. I usually update the DVD release dates section on Sunday or Monday. So if you simply browse those pages once a week, you can simply scan the pages for titles marked as new.
