Anyone seen it?
Its selling in a Polanski trilogy with Cul De Sac and another.
Thinking about buying it.

I haven't seen Cul de Sac, but Polanski is one of my favorite directors, and Repulsion is one of my favorites by him. It's his second scariest film, after Rosemary's Baby, but both of them are really terrifying - Repulsion has some major shocks in it, but it's more chilling in the way it gets under your skin, how the terror feels tangible. Repulsion is on my list of favorite movies - I'd say go for it. |

Like Matt said, Repulsion is really a movie that gets under your skin. It probably has one of the most ambiguously unsettling final images I've ever seen. The score sucks, though. _________________ "If you're talking about censorship, and what things should be shown and what things shouldn't be shown, I've said that as an artist you have no social responsibility whatsoever."

REPULSION is indeed a remarkable movie, and rather vile. I agree with Matt that ROSEMARY'S BABY is superior--I think that's one of the finest horror pictures ever made.
I don't think CUL-DE-SAC is available in the US on DVD. Am I wrong? I'd love to see it.

I really like Knife in the Water. In Communist Poland, a sophisticated married couple almost run over a hitchhiker. The husband invites the student on their weekend sailing trip, and thus begins a spitting contest in which each man--the condescending older success and the envious younger student--tries to outspar the other. Only the wife (played by the beautiful amateur Jolanta Umecka, who progresses in terms of beauty, spunk, and insight as the story deepens) recognizes how each man is a mirror image of the other, separated only by years. Credible drama perfectly acted, with lots of interesting sailing information, dollops of genuine suspense, and tiny bits of social critique. I was engrossed throughout, and would rank it highly among Polanski's works.

Im wrapped with the purchase.
The artwork is sensational.
$54 AU, bargain!
Let the screenings commence.
They seem to be all pretty good movies, as opposed to most box sets,
that generally have an average movie in them. _________________ walking on air, up from the wheelchair,

Definitely pick up that set; three great Polanski's, imo.
I've had the Criterion for A Knife in the Water for a while, but like many other movies, I haven't gotten around to watching it yet. _________________ My apparent website |
