The second story I received actual money for hit the Web today, inside the cyberpages of The Cafe Irreal. Below is a direct link to the story, but I strongly recommend checking out the rest of the issue (#11), as well the e-zine's archives; they putout some good stuff.

the story "Glove Box Heart"

Here's a link to my first professional sale at ChiZine. This is a great e-zine, too, boasting a quality comparable to any print magazine I've read. (By the way, ChiZine only archives for so long, and the issue my story appeared in is next to go, so if you're interested, you might want to check it out soon.)

the story "Somewhere Else Besides North"

(You'll also find a picture of the author in his natural habitat here.)

homepage for Chizine

Enjoy!

[Michael - I wasn't sure if this should be posted here or in the Pimp Your Own Stuff forum. If you'd rather this thread be there, let me know, lock up this one, and I'll make a new one on Pimp. Thanx.]

No interest, or just no comments?

LOTS of interest, but I'm planning to take a closer look yet. (In fact, I was just thinking about these links earlier today.)

I've been meaning to settle down and read the stories, but I haven't had time yet. Soon.

There's an option for a printable version on the Chizine site, if that affords any convenience, so you're not stuck at your computer.

I just read Glove Box Heart. Ambiguous, thrilling, sexy and very finely written [you have style!] -- the ending is great, too. It's wonderful to see how you can create such a relationship between a man and a woman in so little time. Kudos! Cool

And I obviously don't display any of it in my posts! Laughing I'm glad you liked it. I'm actually surprised how well this story often goes over with readers, considering it's anything besides traditional (which is what Cafe Irreal requires). Thanks for the feedback and enthusiasm, Mr. Lime!

That's okay -- and your posts do have style, too! Sorry I didn't read the rest, but I had to study for a R.E. GCSE mock exam for this morning [did very well, actually!] I will proceed to read another one this evening. Cool

Hey, Thomas, I just saw a picture of you -- I'd never imagined you'd look like that! But, nice seeing you. Laughing

Very lovely, Thomas. A thorough, very well written story with a rather nihilistic, mysterious tone to it. I know you're interested in urban stories and the paranormal [not unlike I] and this suits it just fine. I love stories about childhood fears [my story is also about that] and this one conveys those emotions with a rare -- yet ever-effective -- ability. I also liked how you don't fully explain what the shadows are -- I guess it's open to interpretation, right?

Anywho -- great story, man.

I'm pleased you enjoyed it. I've found it's hard to scare the reader more than he can scare himself, so, yes, I left the shadows up for the reader. So, you've written a story about childhood fears? Why not post it?
