Has anyone else found any import DVDs for rent at Netflix?

The only two I know of are Battle Royale and 2046. I'm jazzed about discovering that Wong Kar-Wai's 2046 will be in stock tomorrow (March 29), since it hasn't even been released theatrically here in the U.S.; it looks like it's the Region-0 HK disc from Mei Ah.

More new finds:

Eraserhead is only available for purchase on DVD via DavidLynch.com, for around $40, so it's nice that Netflix finally has it in stock. Lilya 4-Ever still hasn't garnered distribution in the U.S. (I don't know where the Netflix import is from) and Two-Lane Blacktop is out of print (copies of the OOP DVD are going for upwards of $100 on Amazon.com and eBay).

Anyone else find any rare or import DVDs at Netflix?

Thanks for the Eraserhead heads up! Although I've wanted to see it for many years, I've been unwilling to pay the hefty price over at Lynch's site. I've occasionally searched for it at Netflix, but this is the first time it's turned up. Awesome. It now sits at the top of my queue.

I've already seen the other two--Lilya at a film festival, and Blacktop through Netflix many months ago--and would highly recommend both.

Netflix now has Lukas Moodysson's A Hole in My Heart, which otherwise is unavailable in any form in the U.S. I also just discovered that Netflix has a section containing all the Netflix First titles, many of which aren't available for purchase or rental anywhere else in the U.S.

Wow, I've been dying to see this. In my opinion, Moodysson is easily one of the most exciting filmmakers working today. Thanks for the heads-up, Michael!

I was intrigued, too, but then I saw that Berardinelli gave it Zero stars.

I love Moodysson too, though I've only seen Show Me Love and Lilya 4-ever. Why doesn't Netflix stock Together? It's Moodysson's one movie that's widely available on DVD in the U.S. (from MGM) and it's the only one Netflix doesn't have.

Reactions like that usually make me more interested.

And, hey, it's Moodysson. Even if Moodysson fans hate it (and many do), I still gotta see it.

My disinterest in Berardinelli aside, the fact that Hole has received resoundingly bad notices has only piqued my interest more.

Good question. Well, at least you've seen his two best; Together is good, but it didn't resonate with me the way those two did.

Another notable Netflix First title: Forty Shades of Blue (2005).

Wow. I just finished watching it, and it's a strong contender for my 2005 10-best list. Walter Chaw's four-star review says it all. Netflixers, I highly recommend putting it at the top of your queue.

Yeah, that one's up there in my queue. After A.O. Scott's raves, I found myself very interested.
