A few off the top of my head: Aphrodite's Child; Smashing Pumpkins; Clash; I Am the World Trade Center; Rolling Stones; My Morning Jacket; Nirvana; Oasis; Replacements; Sonic Youth.
Those probably aren't my top favorites, but they are what came to mind right now. Consider them a discussion starter.
This is "greatest," right, not weirdest? Weirdest might include Godspeed You Black Emperor; Neutral Milk Hotel; Butthole Surfers...

Though probably not the best names or bands ever, some of my favorites include The Violent Femmes, I Voted for Kodos, The Meat Puppets, The Pixies, Sunny Day Real Estate, and Zolof the Rock and Roll Destroyer.

Yeah, but they can't even decide if they're The Arcade Fire or Arcade Fire (without the "The").
